Interested in reading more Arthurian literature? Unsure where to start? I offer my services as a former Reader’s Advisory library worker and current Arthurian literature PhD researcher to find your next read.
There are texts in nearly any genre, format, or style that could be considered Arthurian…so I’ll need to know what kinds of things interest you.
For instance, someone with a curiosity in a more historical text that remains approachable to a casual reader might benefit from one of Alison Weir’s texts (I enjoy Queens of the Crusades and Queens of the Age of Chivalry in particular); I might suggest something like The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon to someone who wants a thick fantasy retelling (this time of Saint George and the Dragon, though other Arthurian elements, like Morgan le Fay, have their time here as well).
Fill out the form below and I’ll send you 1-2 suggestions personalized to you.
No time hath she to sport and play:
A charmed web she waves alway.
A curse is on her, if she stay
her weaving, either night or day,
to look down to Camelot.
She knows not what the curse may be;
therefore she weaveth steadily,
therefore no other care hath she,
the Lady of Shalott.
From "The Lady of Shalott," by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
